Tap Win32 Adapter V9 Driver

A Windows TAP adapter is a special network driver installed by most VPN programs. This adapter will typically appear in your Device Manager after the initial installation of the VPN client (Hamachi, SoftEther, Cyberghost, etc). Most if not all VPN suites use this adapter as an alias to connect to the internet privately.

If you are unable to connect to a VPN network (regardless of the program), start your troubleshooting by checking if the Tap adapter installed correctly and reinstall it if you find signs of corruption. Follow the guide below reinstall the Tap Windows adapter:

If you want to uninstall the Tap Windows Adapter V9 driver, go to Program Files > Tap-Windows and double-click on uninstall.exe. Then, follow through with the on-screen prompts until you remove the driver from your system.

This post talks about TAP-Windows Adapter v9, what they are, why VPNs require them, and where you can download the TAP Drivers. We will also show you how to install, update or uninstall the TAP driver. If you open the Windows 10 Settings, you will see a program called TAP-Windows installed.Windows 11/10/8/7/Vista users will see it in the Control Panel.if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined')ez_ad_units.push([[728,90],'thewindowsclub_com-medrectangle-4','ezslot_2',815,'0','0']);__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-thewindowsclub_com-medrectangle-4-0');If your open Devices Manager and expand Adapters, you will also see it there.

TAP-Windows Adapter V9 is a network driver[1] that allows VPN[2] to connect to its servers. The default installation location is C:/Program Files/Tap-Windows, and it appears in Device Manager under Network Adapters[3] category. Unfortunately, some users reported that they have connection problems when TAP Windows Adapter V9 is enabled, and even if the device is disabled, it does enable itself after the reboot of the computer.

TAP-Windows Adapter V9 can appear on your device soon after the installation of VPN client (ExpressVPN, CyberGhost, NordVPN, etc.). Most of the VPN clients use this adapter for private connection to the server.[4] Therefore, users can be a little confused and not realize where the program came from. Unlike TAP Provider V9 for Private Tunnel, this driver is secure and is used to provide a proper operation for the VPN.

Initially, users should not tamper with this component. However, if issues with connectivity arise, several things could be done. You can restart or completely remove the adapter and then install it again. Typically, issues with it go away, as the cause of this problem is the leftover adapter left from previously used VPN service.

After installing the tap adapter, you will need to navigate to your network adapters (Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections) and rename your TAP- Windows Adapter V9 to Talk2m-eCatcher Connection

Click the Start Start menu and select Settings.Click Update and Security.Click on Recovery.Click Restart now under Advanced Startup.Click Troubleshoot.Click Advanced options.Click Startup Settings.Click on Restart. On the Startup Settings screen press 7 or F7 to disable driver signature enforcement.Your computer will restart and you will be able to install non-digitally signed drivers. If you restart your computer again the driver signature enforcement will be re-enabled. "

Ok. This did not help but I did find the trouble. In the network connections I had a second Tap_windows adapter that was connect to Ethernet. Once I deleted that adapter all is working good now. Thanks for your help. You may want to add this to your troubleshooting files.

This adds a second tap adapter and rename it. This can be done after install. You might need to install both sophos and ecather before running this fix. This script is available in the installation driver folder Talk2mVpnService > driver with the file called install.bat . The script will will add an adapter then rename it for ecathcer. The folder link should look something like C:\Program Files (x86)\eCatcher-Talk2M\Talk2mVpnService\driversOnce in this directory right click on install.bat and select run as administrator.

I know that this question is old, but maybe it can help other people that come across with this same question. I found a solution, though it is not a permanent solution, the TAP adapters will keep coming while you keep a KMS activator or a VPN client of sorts running, which can keep installing these adapters over and over (the reason for that I don't really know, bad programmers maybe? :P ).

To prevent a KMS tool to install these TAP adapters again and again and again, go to the Task Scheduler and disable or delete all of the KMS tasks that were created. Though the KMS tool service may create those tasks all over again! So yeah... there is nothing to do about that.If you are using a KMS tool, I would recommend you to stop using these activators and just support the developers of the software you are using by buying a license! You would avoid all this confusion.

Finally, be advised that if you actually use VPN, you will probably be unable to access it without a TAP Adapter. So if you use VPN you may want to keep your VPN adapter, if it is a TAP adapter, reinstall it running your VPN's install software, or the OpenVPN's one, or using the 'addtap' script included in the same folder as the 'deltapall'.

I have given a sample image as i have already deleted the TAP adapters. Don't delete the Microsoft Adapters. Find the Tap adapters location in listed adapters & go to the location for example: "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\TAP.sys" and delete them.

Then opened the file location of the AutoKMS.exe from my task manager and deleted it. Gave a restart, and my all drivers were gone forever. As for my Office....its still working and licensed.

I had the same issue (150 TAP adapters, which significantly slowed down my computer) and in my case the reason was an application called TAP Windows. I don't remember installing that app, so maybe it was installed together with an another software. Anyway uninstalling TAP Windows helped, all tap adapters were gone instantly.

Most VPN software install a particular network driver called Tap Windows. The adapter typically appears in Device Manager after the installation of a VPN client and is used by most VPN suites as an alias for connecting to the Internet privately.

Why does this happen, you may wonder? Because some VPN programs check for missing drivers and install them automatically. If you want to remove the Tap Windows driver, check out this simple guide below:

You might find that the adapter will re-appear inside Device Manager every time your system boots up. This situation occurs because some VPN programs have a startup service that checks for missing drivers and installs any needed driver automatically that is missing.

Did your TAP adapter driver stop working? Try using PIA as an alternative.Check priceVisit websiteReset Windows 10Apparently, resetting Windows 10 fixes the TAP-Windows Adapter V9 error in most cases.

Under some rare circumstances, newer versions of the TAP driver for some versions of Windows can cause slowdowns and render the Internet practically un-browsable using any OpenVPN based service. The details of why it acts this way are not known, but there are several reports of people saying that downgrading to the last NDIS 5 version of the driver significantly improved their speed.

Ok joking aside, (AND Assuming you have an install media for what I'm about to suggest) Have you tried completely disconnecting the rig from your internet? (Then throwing the whole thing out of the window? another joke)And uninstalling ALL Ethernet and wifi drivers, including delete drivers, and restarting your rig? And re installing?

We have seen some cases where despite the TAP adapter not being available on the network settings, our customers still fail to install the TAP adapter and end up with a screen similar to the one below: 2ff7e9595c
